Vanity

What meets the eye is important. Like animals put their best suits on and sing their best songs and puff their chests to enchant their mates, we do it...to enchant everyone else, as well as the Narcissus that lives in us. We count that the halo effect will make people believe that we are beautiful and good and closer to perfection. Maybe we do believe that if we are beautiful we are good and closer to perfection. Maybe we think that the gold we wear can be introjected and make us better, or the Armani suit we bought is actually a means to be better in our own skin.
And then we read magazines and watch TV and movies and get enchanted with even more: the abundance in the world that never ever stops surprising us with new things to want. New things to add to the surface of our lives so we can make it prettier and shinier.
Beauty starts within. Sounds like a cheesy cliche, huh? Think about it.

A visitor in a place called Therapy

Therapy is the biggest travel of all. I am starting to learn how to be a therapist, and there is no greater journey that the one people invite us to go on when they talk about their lives. Immediately, images and sounds and visions and aperson (the client) start to appear in our heads. And our hearts react to all of that. It reacts to stories of love, of heroes, of motherhood, of creativity, of pure bliss and happiness...but it also reacts to abuse, to stories of dispair, stories of ...whatever the person brings to that chair. The chair is the place where most of the times the clients are able to open their hearts, able to cry, able to get angry. It is a special chair that tells them that that is their space, and that it is there for them. I've been traveling because of that chair. And whoever sits in it...That is why this is my first post.
